I do believe that's rbeetsme's Super Zoo. He posted it in the For Sale 2012 thread a while back. It is a very nicely redone 'Zoo. ----------

Yes, this is mine. However, different form the one I sold last month. The guy I bought this one from built a birch cabinet, had a larger transformer installed, used Fender black tolex, wheat grill cloth and white chicken knobs. I replaced the speaker with an Eminence Legend (same speaker Gary used in the Sonny Jr. 4X10) Super Zoo!

Why is the Model 2 more popular with harp players than the Model 1?

@Ray
I dunno that it's more popular per se. I mean they both have the same immaculate tone for harp. But the tremolo that the Two has is a definite perk in its favor. It can be used for a variety of playing purposes, and the One can only get that with the aid of some other device before the preamp. ----------

Hawkeye is right. Also, I believe there were probably 2-3x more Model 2's built than Model 1's. But they both sound great (and the same) for harp. ---------- /Greg

From Miles O'Neal's Kalamazoo Field Guide:
Kalamazoo Guitar Amps Shipped Year 1965 1966 1967 Model 1 8347 8218 4822 Model 2 12455 12416 7414 Model 3 0 0 760 Model 4 0 0 2528
Yup, I'd say you're right Greg. Heck, even the solid state version of the Two outnumbered the solid state One.

I own both a 1 and a 2 Kalamazoo, and I will have to say that I rarely use the tremolo. Now if the Model 2 had a built in delay, that would be a different story.

@MJ
I'll go with that. That's one reason I bought a DigiTech pedal to use with mine. But I do still use the 'Zoo's trem for some stuff because the pedal's tremolo just doesn't cut it for a lot of things. For example, we only have one electric guitarist and when we play Green River, he plays the mainline guitar solo in the bridge, and I'll play the high droning two note lick at the end with the tremolo knob between 3 and 4. Really gets the full effect of the original recording's sound. ----------
