Just traded for one:

For the last two years, I've used a Line 6 M13 for my effects. The POD HD has the same effects along with amp modelling.
I was trying to think of a way to share the unreal amount of things this can do, but it is to overwhelming. Not only does if have a tone of presets, it has an amazing amount of inputs and outputs. The flexibility is insane.
My intent, and I know it can do this, is to use it to create a stereo rig for solo and full band stuff through powered speakers I already have. This unit actually has the ability to create a stereo rig with dual amp models.
The learning curve will be sorta steep, but I don't have a pressing need to get it gig ready as I have a full rig right now anyways.
I will be able to switch between amp/effects with one stompbox switch and route things in stereo. My hope is to use the top row for effects and the bottom for amp tones.
For my solo work, I will be able to have a switch for my lead tones (dual amps with delay), rhythm tones (different amps and less delay and volume), beatboxing, and bass (there is an octave effect and bass amp built in).
I will also then have access to adding more effects on any of them as well as pan the patches to create the illusion of instruments coming from different sources.
I really go interested in this for doing stereo recordings at home as my day job is changing soon and I don't know how much gigging I want to do at this point. My rig will now consist of just a wireless, the HD, and my looper. All I need are two channels into a mixer to run the rig at full potential.
I've had the chance to mess around with the HD's in a music store, and I am totally sold on it. For guys out there looking for rigs with modern options, there is just SO much out there now. Between the Zoom, Digitech, and L6 stuff, you can have amazing flexibility.
I spent most of 2011 going ampless with a full rock band and in my solo work. I don't even own a big amp anymore. My VHT and HarpGear are in a closet. As others try out these types of rigs please share any sound samples you can! ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Mods Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas - When it needs to come from the soul...

Good to see you found a solution to this. I may look into something similar in the future. I do a little beatboxing myself on occaision, my band leader loves it. ----------

The biggest issue is going to be dialing in tones. There are so many parameters you can control (should you choose to) including sag. Then there are the cabs and mike placement, etc. There is a Supro model as well as a Bassman...obviously BF Fender too.
I like the effects on the M13, so this is pretty low risk should I decide not to do much with the amp models.
Zoom just announced a G5 yesterday, which is similar to the HD300 in function. If I already didn't have great PA speakers to use for monitors, a rig like this would make much less sense.

Kinda related to the advent of this new G5, and taking into account the Harp-L messages I've seen about folks using RPs and HDs with Commanders...
I talked to Ron Holmes not long ago about possible mods to his Harp Commanders. He gave me some insights on the subject, but also said that he's developing another Commander called the "Red Commander" (hammer & sickle decal included?), which will be a compact version similar to the original Commander, but with overdrive and a footswitch. Still in development. He also said that in the future, he may be able to build a Commander with reverb via a compact Accutronics tank.
