Mule Variations is an ingenious, sly piece of work with massive wit. Like any other great songwriter you can tell that Tom Waits has been watching. He should have a bumper sticker on the back of his pickup truck that says: I know who you are, and I know what you did.

Yeah, in my 2 man acoustic act(Harp & Guitar) we do "Chocolate Jesus" and get a great responce from the crowd. I play a chromatic in 3rd position which gives it a real erie quality to the song. We also do "Walking Spanish" that has a really nice groove.

I jam on it - down in the hole, that is, My fave's to blow on are 2:19 and Temptation though - I could play those all day. Listen to the John Hammond 2:19 on Wicked Grin. this is a bit from a jam last year - my 'definitve' take yet to come. Tempotation snippet by bonedog The Dave Fergeson looped 'grow up' is Killer shit - workin on loop based stuff myself these days ----------
