Iv recently discovered a place called eagle music store in the UK, I ordered from there before and so far the delivery Is fast and reliable. They are also relatively cheap and stock a lot of harps.

Fast and reliable? You're lucky.

Eagle Music took 6 months to send me a Hering harp; didn't answer my emails, were unhelpful on the phone:

"Well we're having trouble with the supplier, they'll be in soon",
"When?"
"er I can't say"
"Why are they still listed as available on your website?"
"er, I can't say"

Shocking. Will never do business with them again. Maybe I was unlucky, I know other suppliers had trouble getting Herings, but those other suppliers managed the simple task of listing them as 'Out of Stock', which is why I went to Eagle in the first place. One case of bad customer service is enough for me.

Pete Blythe at Harmonicas Direct can get an order to me the next day - consistently. He's the only supplier in the UK i trust. Britain's equivalent of Rockin' Ron.

Usual disclaimers etc... not affiliated blah, blah.

I must have been lucky, I did try get a hering vintage before from them and they said they would need to order it from Brazil, which makes since but I still think they should have had it in store. Iv also ordered a few Suzuki and hohner and the have been relatively quick maybe they just don't stalk herings.

I ordered a 364 just before new years and it came a couple of days ago.

But yous are right harmonicas direct are very good.

I use Thomann in Germany to order harps for delivery here in the UK. They have a flat 10 euro charge for delivery and they have never let me down. This is the cheapest I've seen a crossover anywhere. (Don't forget the prices are in Euros with pounds underneath)

I agree Jimbo that 10 euros for 1 harp would be steep for postage but this christmas I bought a semi acoustic guitar and a C and D special 20 and they were all delivered in 2 days for the same price. And with the euro getting weaker every day it's getting even cheaper.

Oh I thought it was 10 an item, but 10 for 2 harps and a guitar is very good. Just another excuse to bulk buy more harps. :-D

I dont buy anything from The harmonica company, its not worth shopping somewhere where replacement reed plates are more expensive than the harmonica's they fit.
Special 20 £26.99, replacement reed plate £29.99.
Marine Band 1896 £25.49, reed plates £29.99.

Whatever happened to Norman's Harmonica Centre? He was such a nice guy.

Yes I agree Todd. Norman Ives was a great guy, who had some great tales to tell too. I can remember one of his staff (Paul Gillings I seem to recall) teaching me how to blow bend over the phone!
Norman used to send me stuff and then send an invoice for it. You wouldn't see that happening often these days from a small supplier.

Eagle Music are a great 'folk music' shop, and if anything specialise in Banjo's. I have always found them extremely helpful, but there stock of harmonicas is limited.

The Harmonica Company are ok (only used one time).

Harmonica's Direct are super to deal with (my supplier of choice - used many times).

One note of caution - ALL my below par experiences with harmonica suppliers comes when I order directly on a web-site. It is always far better to pick up the phone and speak to them in person, and avoids annoying problems.
