Remember, it's got easy to switch screw on reeds! (I think one of the customizers said that Hohner reeds fit them). Scarcity. I bet it sells. It was the wait/not getting delivered that was the issue with the B-Rad, not the quality of the instrument. It doesn't show the back though, where presumably someone else's name is scrawled across the back.

Let the record show, roughly 36 hours into 2012 and we have our first B-Rad thread.

Hmmm, out of the box harmonica that is used, engraved with someone else's name, and a flat reed at a 150% mark up...
I am willing to sell a used C Crossover with a dymonwood comb and no flat reeds for $130...lol. I will even clean it, ha!
Seriously...a used and near broke harp by a defunct company or 5 brand new Marine Band Deluxes.....

"Let the record show, roughly 36 hours into 2012 and we have our first B-Rad thread.

December 12, 2011 marked the 3rd Anniversary of my paid-in-full order. Like most, on good faith I hoped for the best of the fledgling start-up.
Like many, I didn't receive my goods.
Of course, since I waited in good faith, hoping that the nice harmonica people would get their act together, the Illinois Attorney General says that I waited too long to file a complaint and the time has expired.
The moral?
Don't prepay for anything. And, don't ever think that sincerity has any value on the open market.
Bitter?
Why, yes.
My last words on the matter.
As you were.

Buz,
I feel your pain. Of all the forum members posting on the subject, your display of even temperment in the face of that amount of time waiting, is truly deserving of a call to the Guiness Book of World Records. I'd do it myself, but fear the discovery by the Guiness people of my own sloth, as it relates to my progress on said instrument, and the subsequent posting of my own entry under the title "world's most slowly progressing harmonica student (with attendant audio file displaying the evidence)".
The only thing that saved me from falling victim to said B-Rad scam myself...that's right SCAM...there I said it, is that I took stock of my own harp skills and realized that placing a custom harp in my hands would be akin to pulling a teenager out of driving school and flipping him the keys to your Ferrari..he might have fun for a few seconds..but it's sure to get ugly and end badly.
My above post was gently poking a little fun at the seemingly never ending re-hash of certain topics, from which little new information can be gleaned.
I have sincere empathy for those harpless and skinnier in the wallet as a result of this whole debacle....may the harp gods smile down upon you with Little Walter like riffs, lines and improvisations in 2012.

Hi, my name is Rick. Yes, I too am a harpaholic. Oh, I used to play to just be sociable, but then I discovered Adams' videos. 1 or 2 a day at first, but then, he kept posting, 1, 2 3 or more a week! And with each video a teaser about a well tuned harp. At first the odd Marine Band was enough, but then, I started to crave more! Every key, flats and minors, oh when will it end?! Then Jason started posting and before long touting the new Rad harp! I had to have one. But I knew 1 would never do, so I ordered 3! But then the wait. I try to console myself with my MBs but the anxiety was growing stronger. "Maybe if I pay in advance Brad will take pity on me and hurry mine out!", I decided. And so I did. As time labored on there were rumors of B-Rads showing up at jams and festivals. Hope was strong. But no harps in my mailbox. Just as all seemed lost, Kevin appeared, "I can re-work your Marine Bands and have you sounding like Rod in no time at all." Was it more false promises or was there hope at the end of the tunnel? I sent him 6 keys and sure enough, he sent them back better than ever. Great vintage tone, very responsive, nice volume and very little breath needed. Is this what Barbecuebob was talking about? Was I experiencing harmonic heaven? Well, as I was calming down, re-learning to play, a B-Rad appeared! Key of C. Wow, eharp was wrong, there really was a Brad Claus! It played well, felt good in my hands, tone was ok, but didn't blow me away. That's when the light started to shine, so I closed the blinds and compared all of my harps to this harp from the future. I continued to play it, but I played Kevins' harps more. Finally I decided my obsession with the Uber-Harp was over. I sold the C and asked Brad for a refund. Oh, he tried to talk me out of it, "We're so close to filling your order and your name is on the coverplates!", he teased. But it was too late, the thrill was gone,I'd lost interest. I wish everyone could have had a happy ending like I did, but it was not to be. But cheer up, there are a lot of good customizers out there who can steer you straight!

"Seriously...a used and near broke harp by a defunct company or 5 brand new Marine Band Deluxes....." (HarpNinja).
I'm totally with HarpNinja on this. I'd rather buy a custom harmonica then even a new B-Rad, from opinions I've gotten from those that tried both they're better anyway, lol.
rbeetsme, I enjoyed your story :) .

not a chance, lumpy. in the past, for a thread to get locked, within the 1st 5 posts there has to be someone typing in bold. within 2 after that, there needs to be a strong retort. within 4 after that has to be a name called. within 3 after that has to be a ridiculing innuendo. within 5 after the last is the call to "cant we all just agree to disagree."
*2 of the 4 need to be by the same person.

Alas, always one to get the last laugh and word, to extricate himself from working over my harps for free, my fat, lovable, sardonically, irascible, customizer up and died on me.

I doubt these ebay harps are being purchased for playing purposes. I received a Harrison coffee mug with my Bb, that I've since put in a display case along with the harp.
