Maybe it's just me. But the other day my son & I took a hike over to the local Guitar Center. Checked out the bass guitars, and then went to the harmonica rack. Seen the various Hohners. Never paid attention before, but seemed looking at the packaged harps actually look nicer that what's on Hohner's website. Is it me, or is the website not doing justice for highlighting the products?

It is hard for photos to recreate the sparkle of polished metal under good lighting. On the other hand - please do NOT assume Guitar Center knows ANYTHING about harmonica because they happen to carry a few harps. If you want to buy the best harps, mics, amps, or other related equipment - ask here about harp-specific vendors who do their business online (because the market isn't big enough to support a store front) - you will get better products, better service and better advice.

(You might have known this already - but I run across new players every day who didn't realize this.)

I went into a Guitar Center today for a SLR to 1/4 cord. I mentioned the word harmonica and I got a hard sell for a Green Bullet from a guy who told me it would give me great tone. I think they rang me out for a couple dollars more than was marked on the shelf for the cord too. I need to start putting money into the piggy bank for a good microphone. I'm playing on a Shure 57, but it's the drummer's, not mine. I know he has no problem letting me borrow it, but I'd sure like my own good microphone instead of a choice between a loner and a broken down Shure Prologue with a wonky connector. :(

I think we need a continual post like the 'For Sale 2011' page (soon 2012) that is titled "Rockin' Ron's Rocks" :-)

Another vote for Rockin Ron's... I've ordered a number that have arrived fast to NZ. Everytime.
