The blues band I'm in has played all of 5 gigs now. I've made an interesting observation and wonder if y'all have noticed something similar.
I've noticed this with drinkers and non-drinkers...young and old...male and female.
We played inside a shopping mall Saturday for the grand opening of a new store. Some people would hear us as they got closer and right away start dancing, moving, clapping or something. Many stopped to enjoy several tunes.
On the other hand, other people moved on by and never gave us a glance or any type of response. They just didn't see us there. Same thing in the bars and restaurants we played.
Even before I started playing harp, I couldn't ignore good blues/rock.
Our guitarist says if they don't feel blues music they lack soul...the drummer says they are missing a part.
I know people have differnt tastes in music, movies, food, etc...I regularly get chill bumps on my arms watching a good blues performer. What a rush!
This is a song we did at our last two gigs that had everybody up...except those with the missing gene.
How can anyone sit still to this? Fun to add harp to as well!
Some people don't have the *music* gene. Some (mainly the young) don't hear a groove in anything that isn't being hyped to their peer group. And then, a lot of folks at a mall are just trying to burn through their errands.
