Last night, I acquired an old(early to mid 60s)Sears Silvertone 1482 amp head-I've seen the combos plenty, but this is the first head-only unit I've ever seen. It's been in my father-in-law's attic for an aeon or two. All the tubes look crack-free, and are all Silvertone-branded. 2 6v6s, 2 12ax7s, and two little tubes-rectifier, I assume, and another smaller one(no clue). I'm guessing this setup is the same as the combos.
One thing I didn't see on my quick lookover(still haven't even plugged it in!)is the ohm requirement for speaker cab connection-can anyone shed some light on that, and anything else about these amps that might be useful?

I HAVE seen a Silvertone head now that I think of it. But I think it may have been older than yours. The one I saw had switchable incandescent lightbulbs above its knobs. It was pretty big for a head too. Never got to look at the specs on it.
According to what I've read about the combos, the smaller tubes are 5Y3s. Amp is rated at a 12 watt output. The combos I've seen have had 12" CTS Alnicos, so I'm betting 8 ohms would be safe.
