Today I had the first radio interview regarding our new album. The interviewer was a blues guy himself and he liked especially the harp sound and the Finnish lyrics.
It was pretty good interview and there were short pieces of many of the songs played. At the end they played one whole song too (Oulujoki-blues).
This interview reminded me how much of it all is about stories and narratives. The songs are always understood in certain context and thus discussions of them might reveal wider contexts that will make the songs more interesting.
I guess that is the same with harp playing too - it is the context where the harp is played. Depending on the song it can be really simplistic or really complex. I think that it is best to think about it as a story-telling instrument. Whether it was the solo or some background playing, it is always telling a story of some kind..
PS. If somebody is interested, our album can now be ordered also from a webstore that sends it to Europe and overseas to anywhere..
