This is the first recording I've ever done with a chromatic. I was out of town all week and have only started learning to play it (maybe two hours of practice), so this was the first time on it for quite some time.

I totally suck at it, but it is sorta addicting. If you can play first or third position at all, you should consider giving it a shot as there is a high level of instant gratification (ie, you can at least play in key and recycle several ideas from diatonic).

I realize I didn't do a vocal take here as I didn't have an extra mic setup. Also, my stompbox isn't audible, so the b-section loses the feel, but the point is I was able to at least jam with a chromatic, lol!

Interesting, to me, that I can play a lot of cool stuff acoustically, but even when jamming to my own loops, I couldn't sound better than a rank beginner(chromatic stage fright) . ;)

I actually figured out all of the harmonica on Stileto by Son of Dave in the first 15min of trying a chromatic. I thought about recording that and sharing, but then had the epiphany to learn I'm Ready. With only one direct recording input, it loses the extra percussive bits, but this is the quietest way for me to rehearse at home.

My hope is to do both live at my next solo show, which is three weeks away.

I actually like the percussion at this level. The only neat trick I have on the chromatic is to play an all blow pattern and work the slide. You end up with a interesting Turkish sort of sounding scale like something you'd expect to hear in Raiders of the Lost Arc.

Your screwing with me right? Why are you doing this to me...you're trying to hurt me right? What the F....?

I'm new to all this and still trying to learn the diatonic, I'm broke and getting more broke quicker by buying all these new harps in various brands and keys, amps, mics and whatnot. Now you go and make me want to go out and buy a chromatic!!! I'm still learning the diatonic, I have no business touching a chromatic yet. Not for quite some time.

lol

That was a great job IMO. Even more impressive knowing how little experience you have.
