I just got a call from Kevin Moore, our friend & official roadie. Dave Laycock, our drummer for the past five years, died in his sleep last night.
His liver had been very bad for a long time. He'd been in and out of the hospital several times recently.
It's fair to say that without Dave around, Satan & Adam would not have had the minor but important rebirth of the past five years, including our appearance at Hill Country Harmonica this past May. Dave was a good and gentle man--a gentleman, you might say--and I never heard him speak a mean or spiteful word about anybody.
For the time being, this ends the effective life of Satan & Adam as a very occasional club and festival attraction. I've learned never to say never, but I'm sure Sterling will be heartbroken by Dave's loss and I'd be surprised if another drummer comes along who is willing and able to take his place.

Sorry to hear that. A good drummer is hard to find and one who isn't crazy is even tougher. Sorry for your loss.

Very sorry Adam... I lost my music sidekick (guitar/piano player) of 45 years this year, and I know some of your pain. There've been weird moments when I thought of calling him to ask him how he'd play somethin', or to share excitement about a new tune, and I'd remember that he ain't there no more...the pain of getting older...and the joy of past good times.
Music's a wonderful thing though... there may be musical healing in your future, if you're up for it.

sorry for your lose Adam. I know how close one can get to another after years of playing together. It creates a bond that is much like a good wife and a childhood friend all rolled up into one. When it ends it leaves you empty in many ways.
When my bassist of 15 years quit playing it essentially ended my trio format and playing clubs for close to 10 years. I had great bassists come in but none created that magic we had. It led me to going back to the 1 man band. Walter
