Got one myself. Great bits of kit- pretty tricky to master though.... find my musical saw easier for that kind of sound (though it scares the hell out of sound engineers when they're trying to get it miked up!)
Steamrollin', it is an electric instrument that works by you manipulating soundwaves around an electric field. In other words, you wave your hands in the air and it makes music.
Good vibrations. the electro theramin was designed and built by Paul Watson, he was one of Glenn Miller's trombonists. ---------- "Come on Brackett let's get changed"
Sorry, Lumpy, but if your post had a point, you needed to make it more explicit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%A9on_Theremin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theremin

@Andrew OK I wrote that from memory and got the name wrong, it was Paul Tanner. and I spelt theremin wrongly. :^(( Note I said the electro theremin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electro-Theremin http://www.electrotheremin.com/etfaq.htm
being as Michael originally said a theramin, we are both possibly wrong.
I was merely supplying a useful/useless* piece of information
@Michael - can we have a picture to confirm what you have actually bought?
I did look up the "electro-theremin". I can sort of hear Good Vibrations in my head and assume it was some form of perhaps keyboard theremin to make it easier to play. Correct of him to assume that the synthesiser made it obsolete. ----------

Theremine made the sounds in all those great old late 50, early 60's science fiction movies when the aliens appeared.
Check out the documentary "Theramin", about the life of the Russian inventor that created this instrument - fascinating. His girlfriend was a classical musician and there is footage of her performing on this instrument with an orchestra. Beautiful to watch. ---------- The Iceman
