I am pleased to announce that I have changed the name of my business from the somewhat ambiguous Florida-Trader to Blue Moon Harmonicas LLC. This name is a more accurate reflection of the nature of my business.

I have also launched a new website:

www.bluemoonharmonicas.com

LINK

I invite you to check it out and provide feedback.

I've made some progress on some other fronts, but more about that later.

Looks real nice! I clicked around your site with safari on my iPhone 3GS. Easy to shop with clear shipping policy and the international shipping button. I navigated as far as the google checkout. No glitches. Just one thing though: the grass border from the heading picture gets placed over the text (on this browser, haven't tried it on any other). I really wanted to buy one of those sweet looking combs but need to put my harpmoney on new harps at the moment.

I'm curious about whether the anodizing has any effect on the flatness of your aluminum combs. Are they as flat after anodizing?

I play mostly L/Os and are quite happy with them but i fancy jazzing up their looks a bit.On your home page it mentions L/O combs but not on the products list?
Are they maybe on the to do list?

@hvyi, I have one of Toms red anodized ms combs. It is very flat. These are not combs he made in his garage, he had the professionally made. Very nice comb. Though it is aluminum, it has a nice weight to it. I love it. plan on ordering more after the Christmas grind. :)

I apologize to those of you who asked a couple of questions for not responding sooner. I was out of pocket for a few days and didn't notice them since this post has been relegated to page 2 or 3.

First. Thanks for the positive feedback- about the site and the combs. I appreciate it.

Now to your questions:

hvyj - The anodizing process does not affect the flatness of the comb. Anodizing creates a very thin layer of aluminum oxide on the surface of the aluminum which is 1) harder than the aluminum, and 2) will not react to chemicals such as the acids present in your saliva. I posted a video on youtube showing one of my combs being milled. You can find it just by searching for "aluminum comb". If you watch the video you will see the aluminum being milled to a mirror-like finish with the first pass of the router bit. They are very flat.

Jehosaphat - I just started making acrylic combs for Lee Oskars and Suzukis. They are not up on my website yet but I do have them on eBay. I am in the process of learning how to post new items on my website. Until I get there I have to rely on my web designer to do it for me and I just haven't pressed the issue.

Harley - If can make my combs look half as good as your mics, I would be one happy man.

One final note. I have a lot of harmonica related irons in the fire. For example, a while back I started a thread about powder coating cover plates. I started with a small batch of about 70 harps and will be posting them soon. I will be offering them as a stand alone products (cover plates only) and as part of completed harps in what I am calling "Resurrections".

I have a pretty fair collection of Pre-War harmonicas including about 25 Marine Bands and an assortment of tremelos, chromatics and off brands like Contest, Koch and Seydel. I am in the process of refurbishing them and will be making them available.

I have some other projects in the works as well. If you are interested in keeping up with what I am doing, I invite you to subscribe to my newsletter. Just visit my website and click on the newsletter box in the upper right corner. I promise I will not bombard you with an endless stream of nonsense. They will be just brief announcements as I have new products that become available.

Tom
