Hi Harpers i just wanted to share a special moment that happened last night,I was at a local Jam Night that features a house band of very experienced players. Each person gets two songs then it's time to get off and let the next victim on, well last night i got up and did two of my own songs, the first one went well so i was encouraged to go for it on the second which i did and bugger me the audience loved it and shouted for an encore, in fact even the guys in the band joined in! Unfortunatly i was unprepared and got an instant dry mouth and a mind blank, so Ron the band leader just started playing and said "just make something up around this steve", so i did and it worked!. What a buzz i was shaking like a leaf after but really happy.

improvising is essential, esp if you have an encore and nothing else ready! eventually it gets easier, you will be able to pull something out. as long as i've been playing, i still rely on cuing the band- "12 bar, G, slow! or I-IV-V shuffle, in A, medium, from the V", and taking off from there. having something ready is important but so is the ability to rise to an unexpected occasion wih something nobody has heard lately as well. ---------- http://www.reverbnation.com/jawboneandjolene

:) !!!
Congratulations!
We were playing some songs at our songwriters' circle on Monday and some people asked our bands name. When they didn't see us on the venue performance list they told us we needed to get some shows. It wasn't an encore, but it felt nice.

That's what it's all about. Now you're hooked for life. I've had that dry mouth syndrome. Makes it difficult to make smooth moves on the holes. ---------- Ricky B www.bushdogblues.blogspot.com RIVER BOTTOM BLUES--a crime novel for blues fans due out 2012
