SonnyD,

There are TONS of threads about this amp. There are tons of our opinions about this amp. If you use the FORUM SEARCH button on the side, you will find them all.

I am beginning to suspect that we are part of a Psychological experiment you are performing for a college class.

We are here to help, but you gotta do at least an ounce of work for yourself...

Don't worry, people will probably weigh in on the microcube anyway, they all want to help. But when you answer your own questions to begin with, you look like you are just asking to be asking...

Just slow it down and think of what you really want before you ask. (BTW an attempt at correct grammar and spelling show respect for your readers)

Here is what I think. I may not have much experience in this but I have some common sense. "My own" common sense. So I first think about what "I" think.

So in some cases my newness to all this may be the key. Inexperience. What does inexperience have to do with it? Well, at this point I really don't have the experience to make a real good assessment on amps and sounds. So what others tell me here turns out to be what they like. That doesn't mean I would like it. At this point I am not even sure what type of harp setup I like. What tuning, how I like reeds set etc. That's why I wouldn't buy a custom at this point. I'm still ironing out the details of my playing style, likes and dislikes, my touch, air etc.

The same holds true for amped sound. Right now I am still working on perfecting my acoustic sound. All I feel I need from an amp at this point is decent sound enough to teach me how to use a mic and the basics of an amp. I'm not playing with a band so I don't need an amp that fits that venue. I have a Pignose and it is perfect for me. I can take it anywhere and I can practice. If I were playing with a band or out I would consider more, but I'm not. The point is that we each have to decide what it is we "need." And that is based on where we are in our playing and where we are trying to go. But we can't put the cart before the horse either; at least in my view. I need something to practice and learn on, not to record albums or entertain a stadium or reach the back of the room in a bar. But that's me. Where do YOU stand?

I usually do searches to kind of get "reviews" of items I'm interested in, then I decide what I need and want and go from there. Everyone has different tastes and what is gold to one is trash to another. Ever look at threads comparing harps? Geez... 10 posts on "MB's are the cat's pajamas" and another 10 on "nooo, MB's are the worst harps ever made."

User preference. What do you like.

And that's my opinion on amp choices.

Easy Bobo...several Tennesseans on the forum..lol....

I'm with kingobad

I like to start a thread once in awhile as well, but I try to share the story behind the post, an expereince, or why I am posting.

I could post something like this everyday..

" IS GODLEN MELODY A GOOD HARP "
" Do YOU THINK SONNY BOY 1 or 2 IS BEST"

harpdude61,

Yeah, my apologies, ah the joke was meant to compare a likeness in the substance and tone of the questions to that of a rather specific, prolific interlocutor and former member of the forum who happened to have TN in his screename (as you can see, his brief, meteoric, existence here left quite an impression on me).

Nothing was meant to denigrate our fine harpers from the great state of TN, home to Memphis and Nashville and other great musical enclaves no doubt.

Mea Culpa.

Thanks Honkin...I remember Frank very well...

and don't forget Bristol..the birthplace of country music.

Some very good mountain music and bluegrass in the northeast TN hills as well.

Damn, no need to quit, Sonny. I think it just miffs folks who see the same questions and requests for opinions asked about every little thing. Do some reading instead of posting all your questions, perhaps. The search feature works pretty well;sometimes you need to get creative with wording, but it will work in the end. There is loads of great info on this forum and in its' archives. People don't mind helping, either, but the questions on amps and harps, etc. with no other talking points besides the thread title? It's just no how to start a good conversation, that's all.

Don't quit!

The search feature works okay, but it's not perfect and sometimes it's just good to get a fresh perspective from members who may have missed previous threads.

SonnyD, that said, there is a lot of great stuff in the archives. If you have a topic that interests you, try doing a search. Feel free to post on old threads on the same topic. They'll pop up on the front page again and you'll get the best of both worlds, old posts and new comments.

There is nothing wrong with enthusiasm. Remember guys, you can always sit a thread out. Unless someone posts so many posts that it starts bumping everyone else's posts off it doesn't really matter. (And by my count SonnyD only has two posts he started that are on the front page right now. That's not going to bump anything off the front page that wasn't headed that way already.)

No disrespect Sonny. I do admire your enthusiasm.
To be honest, I did not mean to mis-spell GOLDEN. Tim Elf scolds me once in awhile for my spelling.

I have probably learned as much from the archives and search as I have from current threads.

forget the searches.
there are new folks that may have the same question.
starting threads is what helps keep forums alive.
if you dont want to help someone out, then dont. some of you, who have experience with the amp, could have answered him as quickly as it took to reprimand him.
it's no wonder some folks quit, or decide to stay lurkers.

sonny- i've played thru the micro cube a couple of times.
for what it is, it's a fun amp. the modeling, effects and being battery operated all make it a decent amp. but like most amps, it may depend on the mic.

i recently bought a roland street cube(?) which i used at a couple of gigs. same great features as the micro, but has 3 inputs which would make it ideal for busking.

Eharp, communities also hold each other accountable. Asking a chain yank question is not ok. We and I welcome beginners here and are happy to answer all kinds of questions. There are also manners for inserting oneself into an established community.

I LOVE SonnyD's enthusiasm. I do not like the purposeless and careless way he starts some threads. (I do prefer punctuation and correct grammar as well, but that might just be me. It is a respectful thing to those you wish to understand you.)

Perhaps I am holding online discourse to an unreasonable standard. I simply believe in decorum. There are PLENTY of new folks all the time who don't seem to have the same issue.

SonnyD,

I certainly don't want you to leave. It seems to me, if you took a little more time to think out and communicate what you really want, it would be less problematic.

Now, on topic, is there something in particular you would like to know about the microcube in reference to something YOU want to accomplish? I have played through one and also own a cube street like Eharp.

dON QUIT sonny. Even though you seem like a bit of a chumpman, it's still nice to have you around.

PS I loved my micro cube....that is until it got all bad sounding after a night of too all too much goin townshend on it. Now I use my MaxiMOuse....which is as dry as a dinner of saltines with no ginger ale.
