Brand new video from a fine harp player. I was initially attracted, not surprisingly, by the "tribute to Adam Gussow" tag, but what kept me watching straight through to the end was the way the guy took my basic adaptation of the song and completely made it his own. I don't sing it, but he adds vocals, and that immediately makes it much more compelling. He weaves the vocal phrases in between harp riffs in a slightly off-centered way that works for me--although I might not do it exactly the same way.

Nice solo, too. The whole piece works.

Having seen this video, I'm no longer satisfied with the way I do the song. I need to go back to the woodshed, work up some vocals and plug them in.

The vocals do seem to add quite a bit!

"...I'm no longer satisfied with the way I do the song...."

One-upped by a student, eh? That's a great compliment to the teacher.

I'm impressed by the seamless transitions between vocal and harp.

He's got a good voice, too. He should sing through the vocal mic instead of the bullet. The vocals need less distortion, more presence and less delay than his harp playing.

I think the bass drum on 1 and 3 with the jingles on 2 and 4 is key.

Very nice cover. Same remark about the singing : good, but a little misplaced at the beginning, though it kinda works. In fact, he changes after the solo and sings at the "right" place.

What I like the most is that he keeps measures and pace, while singing and also soloing. And nice solo indeed. Very well done !

Love that "drum roll" at the end - wiggling foot on the tambourine.
