I myself wouldn't mind seeing it in action again...but without Aykroyd and Belushi...I just don't know. Thoughts?

Belushi: so high he died from it. Akroyd: i could play as well as him in the 70's. to me this is another example of a couple of unqualified guys capitalizing on their notoriety to act like they can actually do real music. so my question is, why flog a dead horse? not to be cruel but these guys had their moment. why not do a series based on some real talent in today's blues world like our host here, or terry bean, brandon santini, or a host of others who don't need the big chicago band behind them to take up the slack. the blues brothers movie was cutesie and iconic. but let it rest on the shelf and let's see something timely and fresh instead! ---------- http://www.reverbnation.com/jawboneandjolene

Here's the thing though...
The Blues Brothers were a revitalizing endeavor to the world of blues. Aykroyd himself said that he wanted to make the movie primarily as a musical to tribute the world of the blues. And it did just that. Blues had been all but dropped from the mainstream music scene. But as soon as the movie came out and they were touring together, blues started popping back into people's heads. Think about it. The Blues Brothers grabbed America's attention and focused it on the music it had all but forgotten.
If they make a sitcom-type series with these guys, and every episode bring in someone from the blues world like you're saying (eg. Adam, Bean, Santini, Guy, Kaukonen) as a guest, and they display their talent that way. You could get a LOT of people in the current blues world, and their talent exposed. Who else can you think of out there that could grab the whole of America's attention and focus it on the blues in a weekly show? ----------

what would be cool is if they did something like the blues equivalent of "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives". they could travel the country and spotlight small unknown clubs, music, and musicians.
