Do you have a broken harp lying around? Well, maybe you can help me turn your loss into someone else's gain. It seems there are several common problems with harps- gapping, burs, misaligned reeds, low reed rattle, poor tuning, blown reed, squeal, bad embouchure (well, that's not the harps fault)... I'm probably forgetting a few.
We get people asking what is wrong with their harp all the time and I thought if we had some recordings of what different broken harp sounds sound like and a quick trouble shooting guide...
So, anyway, if you've got a harp that suffers from one of these issues, make a recording of it and post it here. We'll see what we get. I've got one with a flat out busted (missing piece) reed and one that rattles. I'll try to make recordings of those, although if we have a few different samples to choose from we'll be better off.
