Don't take this storm lightly. I've been through them and they are to be taken seriously. I don't know how close you are to the predicted path but if you're a home owner take everything outside in. You could have sustained winds for 10-12 hours non stop. If this happens don't dare to open a door. An 80 mph sustained wind will feel like your doors and windows are trying to be pulled out of your house, like someone is ripping at your front door, shit flying be down the street, it's awful. I hope you have a gas grill, camp stove or charcoal to heat water and cook with. Fill up your vehicles, get bottled water, ice, canned food, fruit, you cannot over prepare my friend. And booze!

Yea Diggs, I'm about 90 minutes north of Philly in Allentown. We're not expecting as bad but it still doesn't sound good. I'm off but I'll have to drive my wife to work....yowzer!

Yeah lip . We, in southern VA and Eastern NC, have lived through a few of these. There are already some mandatory evacuations. Some are comparing this one to Isabel. I think that will depend on which side it passes (the right side of the storm is worse) as for now we are planning on riding it out so that we can protect our house from flooding but is there is an evac. order for our neighborhood we will seek higher ground. Looks like there could be plenty of woodshedding in the dark. ----------

Battening down on the Chesapeake here- 15 gal. gas, 15 gal. diesel, all cars/trucks, tractor filled, 3 boats hauled, outside furniture stored or tied down, new chain saw just came in, generator tested- (we were with out power for 13 days after Isabell- no generator- bathed in the river..... wife doesn't do that anymore...) food, water, dog and cat food, cash... what am I forgetting????

2 weeks worth of booze. And the boats are great fuel storage. In the past I've just taken the line loose at the engine, pumped the primer bulb and let gravity fill the fuel tanks to feed the generator.

I've been working with a customer in Jersey, selling her a home here. I thought to myself, why doesn't she come to florida to avoid the storm. It's usually the other way around.

Good luck. It looks like we may get a bit of it between Sunday and Monday, but not the brunt like you guys.
