Hey yall,

so let's say I were to get a harp tatoo and I wanted to wrtie something on it...something that represents my love for the instrument and the style...what would you suggest

PS: you can't use anything sematically related to "Blues" or "Harp"

your word might just end up on my right arm for the rest of my life so choose carefully.

Okay, here are a variety, with some different flavors...

Breathe In, Breathe Out

Sonny Boy Was Here

I IV V

Extra! Extra! Reed All About It!

C E G C E G C E G C
D G B D F A B D F A

Blow Me Away

Professional Tongue Blocker

Tab for your favorite riff

(Okay, I know you said no blue but I'm going to cheat and throw a few in)

Blue Third- Get Bent

Sacré Blues (or Sacreblues) (or Sacré Bleu or whatever the plural would be in the proper French spelling.)

I remember this saying from one of the MBH t shirts that were made a while back.

"Twelve bars is all you get use them wisely"

or maybe just "Twelve bars is all you get"

Im personnally getting the I IV V tattooed on my fingers this weekend at a tattoo convention. Ive got some space and ive fancied it for ages.

Make sure you got a great tattooist you can trust who does amazing work, dont just go to some local scratcher because hes cheap because there is no excuse for crap work in this day and age, tattooing is being taken to a level never seen before and the kids who are coming up in this profession are getting real good at what they do so choose your artist wisely:o)

Heres another pic of my Sonny Boy Tatt, i hope to add a Little Walter to it soon.

I know my latest tattoo is strickly Off Topic but i gotta show it to you anyway. I got it at the Liverpool convention a few months ago and it won an award for the best catagory.

The catagory was "Babes in Toyland"

Can you spot why?

keep'em coming people.

I had thought of Heart2Harp but not sure if it'll mean anything to me in 10 to 15 years. Also thought of some lyrics ("Don't start me talking" or "Woke up one morning", etc)

If it were me I'd probably not get words. I'd perhaps get a little design perhaps based on 10 little squares like the comb front on.

My only tat is a batman symbol so I'm probably on the timid side of things but I do think a tat has to be a decent size if it's to have some oomph!

Greg.

A harmonica with the name "Mike Newell" engraved on it.

But seriously.... I like the circle of fifths idea - it conceptualizes so much. I like the idea of representing something intangible - perfect for a tattoo.

You guys are funny there's no doubt about that!
H2H this is a question I've pondered on specifically myself for a while now as I have a fair bit of skin art already, and wanted to 'honour thy harp'( &/or music). My current faves are

I VI V

or diatonic harp image

are you talking forearm?

PS @Ant........ wild tat! is the rabbit on your inner thigh?

@Rubes, the tat is on the back of my knee. I was going put her next to old Sonny Boy for company but it just looked like a wierd ogry was starting to take place so we hid her round the back.

6hrs of scratching on the back of the knee hurt like hell but the tatt was free(a one of piece for the show, i was the only client of his willing to get it so...)
