Hi gang,... just wanted to drop a line after quite a while. I check the forum from time to time still.. but It's getting rarer. And I thought, before I leave this place completely I should have the courtesy to tip my hat.
Well,.. thanks forum. This is a great community and it was always interesting a place to hang out.
I'm actually kinda checking out because I don't play harmonica that much any more... my musical outlet has shifted to teaching piano and building flutes.. But I'll get back to harping sooner or later.. :)
I've dropped out a couple of times. I got fed up with being careful so as not to upset anyone, and all the petty bickering that seemed to go on to the nth degree. Now I just don't care. I don't set out to piss anyone off, but it's inevitable in forum land unless you tip-tip-tippy-toe all the time on egg shells. Some folks have that down to an art form; I don't. Buddha - RIP - certainly didn't, but, boy, did he bring this place alive?
I expect the harp will beckon you again at some point. If you leave it for a while, you hear someone wail and you think, 'Why did I stop doing that?' It's an infectious sound.
As for piano, if you'll forgive me for being prescriptive, I recently came across a mind bendingly useful resource on the subject. There's a fella called Alan Fraser who's produced the most unbelievably brilliant DVD - and book, which I don't have - on the subject of piano technique. I wish it had existed when I was young 'cos I probably would have gotten a lot further than the ABRSM Grade 8. I can't recommend it highly enough. It's very different from all the traditional approaches.
Anyway, just thought I'd tell you about it.
Keep well. I hope our paths cross again in cyber land.
G-H, you have always been polite and informative on everything i've seen you ask about or comment on. these are valuable qualities and i will look forward to seeing you in the future. meanwhile, as long as you are doing music of some sort you will likely retain your sanity! i know from personal adventures that if it's in you it will find a way out. preferably in a way that involves playing some instrument or other, and showing others what you know.
my best to you. ---------- http://www.reverbnation.com/jawboneandjolene
On the contrary Mick, thanks for that resource... I'll definitely have a look at it.
Yeah, the bickering sucks,.. but I guess, not like in real life where you can mostly choose your surrounding yourself, all the variety and conflict in society are right in everybody's face.. and people are forced to deal with it,..
And yes, the HPC really were the high times of this forum IMO. For me always a good motivation of checking out new grounds, searching and finding inspiration...
Thanks nacoran,.. you're the best this forum has ever seen.
Arzajac, that's very kind :)
Thanks Ant! Btw. I always liked your contest contributions.
The same counts for you tookatooka,... your video with the phone ringing at the end... was one of my favorite of all time. I searched for it but couldn't find it again. Also your vid on watercoloring I thought to be very inspiring... :) Anyway, thanks for all your contributions to the forum.
Thanks jbone,.. I'll definitely go on with music for as long as I'm sane. And maybe also if not...
See ya later, Iceman and toddlgreene, and all the others in MBH land!
Stop by once in a while GH. Sad to hear officially yet another one of my favorite members who helped me very much when I first joined this forum is moving on. I understand though, I've hardly been posting anymore either and continue to venture and branch out musically :) .
