Dear list,
A few of weeks ago, I accepted requests from a couple of gentlemen for Skype lessons. It's going well, and both guys are making great progress. I'm going to make a youtube vid to get a couple more students, but I thought I'd tell this forum first.
Making video instructionals (blunders and all) over the past 4 years has been a very good experience for me as a player. I've learned a great deal just by thinking about the topics, and preparing for the videos.
I want to take my teaching to another level. I think the best way to do that is through one-on-one interaction. If you're out there and what I do on youtube speaks to you, please drop me a note.
Note: I have limited lesson-time available. Also, different people gravitate towards different types of instruction. If somebody likes me, great. If not, there are plenty of other teachers out there.
I have in the past and will continue to endorse one-on-one lessons with more accomplished players than I. I also encourage harmonica students to support the pros who have dedicated so much to our little instrument.
So, as I plug myself for a couple of students, remember all, that the following folks offer top-notch instructional materials and/or offer one-on-one lessons.
Adam Gussow (of course) Jimi Lee Jon Gindick Jason Ricci (soon to be on Skype) Howard Levy (I heard he's doing Skype) Deak Harp Ryan Hartt Ronnie Shellist David Barrett Dennis Gruenling
There are many others. Please chime into this thread with more names.
Thanks for reading, Dan Gage ---------- 12gagedan's YouTube Channel

I am one of Dan’s students. I believe Dan is being very humble above. Dan is a wonderful harp teacher. He offers a wealth of knowledge and experience, as well as talent. He creates a lesson structure supporting you at your level of playing. The pace of the lessons reflect your willingness to practice and learn. Dan always displays a positive, supporting attitude. He constantly listens to your playing and offers great advice to help you improve not only your technique, but your tone as well. Dan is a very friendly guy and at some point during each lesson we do discuss Blues music, harmonicas, who to listen to, or any of a number of harp related subjects. It is not all theory and exercises, it is much more than that. I am very happy with the progress I have made so far. It is much easier to learn the blues harp with someone who can guide you the way Dan is guiding me. It was Dan’s helpful Youtube videos that prompted me to contact him to begin with. I am very happy I did.

Shameless, Bill. . . totally Shameless
It's not for everyone, but if my style suits, then we have a good time. p.s. I'm guest-teaching at Harmonica Jam Camp in late September. I think there's still a spot or two if anyone's interested.
For the record, I have love and respect for the teaching of both Adam and Jon. Whatever went on between them is none of my business. Consider that, please, before commenting. ---------- 12gagedan's YouTube Channel

Why do you mention Adam and Jon and what goes between them?

No offense, but this comes off like a paid endorsement.

aint no different than folks passing on their good experience with the customizers, mic builders and authors on this forum when they mention something about their work. i think people would rather know that at least one person thinks the service is good before they buy,

A "paid endorsement"? LOL! No, I pay Dan for the lessons. I guess I should have added a disclaimer?...
I have no connection to Dan Gage other than being a happy customer. I receive no benefits, financial or otherwise, for speaking well of Dan's teaching abilities. Bill D.

That's okay. I think you just oversold it. I had a English teacher once who explained that he'd write letters of recommendation for students if he thought they deserved them, but that as a principle, he always included at least one area they need to improve in. The idea was that people would believe an 'honest' evaluation more than a purely glowing one, even if you have to make up the part about them being a chronic nose picker. You are also saddled with a low post count, but that's okay. If you blow off all your practice time and make posts on here you to can have a post count that makes people ask you things, like 'Do you even have a life?' or 'When do you have time to shower?' :) ---------- Nate Facebook Thread Organizer (A list of all sorts of useful threads)

E-harp- I don't think he gives private lessons. Last I knew he was teaching at a public university. It's too bad though, he was a pretty good English teacher. He done taught me good. Huked on Fonics Wurked Fur Me!
Don't anyone mind me. The heat index is near 100 my brain cells are dehydrated.

That's why I said, "shameless". Didn't put him up to it. We're just having a good time on Skype. Progress is happening and it's cool. ---------- 12gagedan's YouTube Channel
