Awesome! All of these jazz players amaze me. Pat Bergeson is another. Can't wait to hear him play at SPAH.

Yes, he's a very good player. In fact there are quite a few first class French harp players on the scene.

Here are two Jazz Vids, one from a Spanish Guy and one from an American Dude.

Also this offering from Dave Therault that Al referenced in a recent post.

@ Grey Owl - 'The Deb' by Dave Therault has to be one of the most beautifully concieved 5th pos. jazz pieces ever recorded on a diatonic ! Every time I hear it I am so moved :0) Sounds so horn-like - to my ear a fantastic example of the sound I'm reaching for
Absolute respect for Jerome too !
Oh and I enjoyed your 'Stranger on the Shore'too:)

@greg: That's great stuff. It's the sort of stuff that makes me feel like a rank primitive with mud on my shoes. The musical knowledge required to improvise like that lies far beyond my abilities. I just don't have a mind that works like that. But, weirdly, I have a mind that truly appreciates and grooves to that sort of music. Maybe ethnic chefs are like this: the Chinese master chef can appreciate what the Mexican master chef is doing, even if he can't and doesn't want to cook that way himself.

Maybe one day I'll become a master chef. Right now we're into smoothies for the Mississippi heat.

It's sweet stuff, that music. Very freeing to the mind.

the pool- our first- is about 2 inches from full since i set it and began filling it yesterday. this time of year we do milk shakes in the blender.

this sort of jazz is also beyond me but i sometimes give it a try anyway. 5th position is still very obscure to me and old habits die hard. wait- that's a blow not a draw- etc etc. 3rd is much more familiar and i do some jamming to jazzy material in 3rd.

that is some amazing harmonica jerome is playing. at first i thought it was a flute it was so clean, clear and sweet!
the material he's doing put me in mind of howard levy with bela fleck.

i could never keep the count straight let alone play that sweetly and smoothly!

I have said it before....The Deb is one of my three favorite diatonic harmonica performances....the other two belong to Don Les doing "Around The World In Eighty Days" and Charlie McCoy doing Either "Ruby" or "Something"

The Deb is indeed an amazing song. So trumpet-like. Definitely one of my top harmonica performances!

I am wondering: what amplified setup does he use to play that?
