If you are just starting out give this video a good look.
If that doesn't work (give it some time if you are starting out, it can fool you) you want to check the gapping, but really check your embouchure first.
Here is Adam's video on gapping. The Crossover has screws, so the instead of removing the nails like he does you'd unscrew things, but the gapping part is the same.
