Only three days left to submit nominations for SPAH Awards. Nominations are due on Friday, July 15.

SPAH members may nominate candidates for one of three different awards:

-- Bernie Bray Harmonica Player of the Year Award

-- Pete Pedersen Lifetime Achievement Award

-- SPAH Award of Special Merit.

Each award has its own set of eligibility criteria. If you feel that a person or organization is deserving, then download the 2011 SPAH Awards Packet, read the criteria, and write a nominating statement showing why the candidate is deserving, with reference to the criteria for that award. Bear in mind that the SPAH board may be unfamiliar with your candidate, so you need to write an informative statement.

The Awards packet is at: http://spah.org/images/stories/convention2011/SPAH%20Award%20packet%202011-02.pdf

Please submit nominations by email to: spahawards@gmail.com.

NOTE:

- Past recipients cannot receive the same award twice. Please read lists of past recipients before nominating.

- You don't need to use the forms or fill in all the contact information on the forms, though we need to identify you as a member of SPAH. LIkewise, contact information for the nominee is not required at the time of nomination.

I suppose as a board member of SPAH you are out of the running Winslow. But i'm going to nominate your guid self as someone who should get an award. The reason is H.I.P. Harmonica Information Publication. It was the single most important mag to me as a learner. That mag gave me a fairly good understanding of Theory, mode usage and the chance to hear loads of great players who i might not have come across if it wasn't for the reveiw pages. I should say i've never been to SPAH,but hey, someday. So thanks Winslow. That was the best harmonica publication i ever read mate. You should get an award for that alone in my humble opinion.

Cheers,Al.

I just can't afford a membership right now or I'd register and recommend. :(

Al -

Thanks for the sentiment. I appreciate it.

SPAH Board members can be nominated (and I have been in the past), but to avoid a conflict of interest they then must then choose: either reject the nomination and continue to participate in the selection process, or let the nomination stand and remove themselves from the process. As I currently run the awards process, it would be awkward indeed to allow a nomination of myself to stand.

By the way, some interesting and well written nominations have been coming in. More are welcome . . . .

Winslow
