I mentioned this guy in another thread, but he deserves his own thread in my opinion. I learned about him from Alex Paclin. Check him out. Apparently he was kinda like the LD Miller of his day.
he had a fairly high profile in the '80s, jamming w/ john lee hooker etc. i believe hohners hot metal harmonica (not a very good harp) was marketed w/ his visage. ---------- oh, just watched the last vid/ nevermind.

He got famous in the bay area, where I started playing. He sat in once, using my amp. He sounded great and seemed nice. A friend of mine spent a lot of time with him and said he had a hard time dealing with adulthood and not being the star he thought he was destined to be. My friend said he went through a hermit faze and alcohol and hard drugs. That's all hearsay, but I do worry about the young virtuosos growing up. I remember everyone went crazy every time I took a solo until I turned around 24.
I remember seeing a very young harp player on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson... must've been in the 80's, but I couldn't remember his name... he must've been Little John Chrisley.
I thought it might have been Buster Brody, from doing some web searches some time ago... but I bet he was actually LJC.
He came on the bay area scene when I was active there. It was sad to watch. His father pushed him onstage with the biggest names that would let him up. A train wreck waiting to happen. I have seen this scenaro way too many times. Little kids need to be kids- play with their friends, make music with them. When you put them in clubs with adults it gets all warped. I tried to talk to his father about this but he blew me off. It is the parents frustrated star trip they try to relive through their kids. Once the kid has to shave he is no longer a cute little whiz kid, just another player in the mix. I never heard of him until i hit this site, such an amazing and infectious harp player, this is my ideal way of kickin ass, its born into his soul god bless him.
I have seen him a couple of times. Evidently the "father pressure" drove him into a very bad drug period for a long time - but he survived it and he does play out once in a while - at least that was the state of affairs last time I saw him which was about a year ago. ---------- /Greg
What a great little history in this thread! From a kid who plays some pretty amazing biker bar harp to a 26 year old ass kicker! I really like this kid. . . ----------
