Love Charlie Rich, before I got into blues it was soul music all the way...

...sorry couldn't find a decent YT posting of "Love is after me" (probably his best known number on these shores).

Adam, in your provocative opening post, you twice used the term "Southern-born". I'm really hoping that wasn't intended as a badge of authenticity, otherwise aren't we just going round in circles?

I have been into the Allman Bros lately too. The new Gregg Allman album is good stuff. As for a white blues recording, I give you Lynyrd Skynyrd with Call Me the Breeze, live. Another band that has withstood tragedy. Unbelievable guitar work, distinctive vocals...probably more blues/rock, but a lot of energy.

How about Travelin' tracks by Roy Rogers and Norton Buffalo. "Down in Mississippi" is an original and it has superb harp work.
