Greetings,
The Atlanta Harmonica Club www.atlantaharmonica.com is in the infancy stages of planning an Atlanta Harmonica Festival in June 2012 (8th-10th). We think it would be a major draw in the southeast. There is no major harp festival in this area. It will cost probably $150 per person for the whole weekend. We are looking for vendors, performers, coaches/workshops, helpers, ideas....please write if you can help or are interested. Note: We are a non-profit, not looking to make any money on this. Just want to break even, have a great festival, everyone gets paid, everyone leaves happy.

WONDERFULL idea Matthew. I could be a helper and enthusiastic attendee. @joeleebush- Making money as a vendor is quite acceptable and understandable. Making money off of the actual festival should be a club venture, in my opinion. Nothing wrong with the club making something. I believe that if you start getting hands in the pot all wanting to make money, it won't last long. On the other hand, if you wanted to hold one yourself, like Adam does, more power to ya. Why would I want to be a helper and watch you make money?

If a person is undependable- they will be whether they are paid or not but I cannot argue with someone who has a legacy of brilliance.

joelee, that was really entertaining. I think I agree with most of it, including Hondos response. I'd love to see your short list of rules for negotiating club owners. *the festival is one I would likely attend.

Hondo, please email me your info offline. You can submit through my site www.harpcase.com. Thanks for your offer to help. Where do you live?
Hey Guys,
No final arrangements have been made. As far as the profit thing, the harmonica club is non-profit. We have always operated that way and it works well. We have had various clinics by Dennis Gruenling, Mark Hummel, Annie Raines, Ronnie Shellist, Adam Gussow etc.
I think what attracts them is that we support artists and give them 100% of the proceeds. Its kind of a principle thing and I find that when you do good things like this, you get good karma and everything always works out.
Putting up a website soon. We just confirmed PT Gazell. In talks with others.
Ps. Don't worry about me, my company Hetrick, will be one of the sponsors so Im sure we will make some sales.

Hey Joelee, how much would you charge to send an angry letter to my landlord!!! (Only half kidding.)
Some people respond to the carrot, Some people to the stick. Some people just want to lend a hand, But my landlord he's a... not a very nice guy.
