While it's still up(they rotate the Doodles out every 14 hours), go to the Google home page. There's a tribute to Les Paul on there(this is his birthday). Drag your mouse across the strings. There's even a recorder that instantly places your 'song' on a url to share.
Useless, but cool.

EDIT:According to wikipedia, he invented the harp rack, or at least his own design of one, so he could accompany himself on guitar.

It looks like they missed a big opportunity. If you could play something and record at the same time you could build loops. A little more record time would be nice too.
