Thanks to this forum I found a great resource. I just made my first purchase from Rockin' Ron's and I am totally satisfied. I've ordered many things online and have had a variety of experiences with service and delivery times. In my estimation most of the delivery problems stem from procrastination in getting the product to the post office. I live in Pennsylvania and RR's is in California. I placed an order on Thursday and received it on Saturday!
I have an old SP20 key of "A" harp and it doesn't play well. The 2 hole doesn't draw well and some other holes are hard to play. I thought it might just be and "A" thing. I purchased a new SP 20 (A) from Ron's and it plays fantastic...and loud! I guess my old one is....well....old! I also bought a Bushman Delta Frost (key of D). All I can say is "amazing." Maybe it is because I haven't played in about 20 years (I use the term "played" loosely since I was a beginner/intermediate 20 years ago when I stopped)but this D harp sounds sweet. Is it the "D"? Is that just a sweet key? Delta Frosts? I've only really played "C's". With an occasional "A." But even this new A sounds so full and loud. I love both harps and am very impressed with Rockin' Rons. I also have to mention I got a nice deal price wise.
The "D" harp....WOW!!

Yeah Ron rocks! I got my first order from Ron recently. I'm on the east coast, NC. Ordered Friday afternoon and it was in my mailbox Monday, that's good. On the Hohner, the word is the quality on the new stuff is better than anything they were putting out years ago so that is probably part of the reason your new A works better than the old. I've only gotten into this since December so I have no experience with the older stuff but I've bought 5 or 6 Special 20's so far and they all play and sound great.

RR is approaching god-like status. (oops, hope this doesn't cross the religious boundary of the forum creed)
I think D's are fun. A nice change up if you play a lot of low keys. ---------- Go ahead and play the blues if it'll make you happy. -Dan Castellaneta

I have owned a MB "E"...2-MB key of "C. A SP20 "A" for many years but none play very well at this point. I mostly played the "C's" anyway. After recently getting back into harp playing, I purchased a new SP20 "C" and can't believe how good it plays. Now, after purchasing these new harps I am just blown away. It just makes the whole experience of playing that much more enjoyable. There is a new element of interest and new sound. I'm playing the same holes but with a new feel and sound. More feeling if that makes sense. Or at least different feeling from the same notes. (? )

lots of folks love the delta frosts. the only way to test if it is the key is to buy another in A and put it up against your new sp20.

D is a nice key. I play a lot of Irish sounding stuff in 1st position on a D. It's about as high as you can get and still play all out without the high stuff getting all shrill. It cuts through well and is really responsive and quick. I think Db is where they switch from long slots to short slots, so that may be some of it.

Yeah, he does suck. Good prices and communication, fast shipping, free guitar picks.
Speakiing of "D" harps, I'm thinking of getting a low "D". The band I'm working with plays in "A" alot. Somestimes I think I want the mellow low sound. i'm curious about the new T-birds. I wish they'd get them out.

i'm with you on that D issue, lip. i swear they pick songs and use the key of A as a requirement.
