Reverbnation was mentioned in the Myspace thread as a viable option to the deficits of Myspace. Has anyone got experience with Reverbnation? Has it brought you business? Do you feel that it's been worth your investment? Comments? Thanks, jay
I pay for the site builder, which for sure has netted me gigs/money. You can do it direct through Bandzoogle.com, but I think you get it cheaper if you refer from RN.
RN is free and let's you do as much as MS ever did. You can upload music, videos, etc. There are other buy-ons that you can preview for free. You can also manage a newsletter for free and not get marked as spam.
I did do trials of most the other stuff and found them not all that beneficial unless you do originals and have pro recordings.
I think SonicBids is better for just trying to get work. I did RN more for the online presence and intigrrated it with my Facebook music page. The three - RN, FB, and my site - also provide statistics that go really in depth.
For example, I can tell how many people have viewed what pages for how long and from where. As someone who is obviously on the computer a lot during the day and who works with data as a large part of their job, it is wonderful. ---------- Mike Quicksilver Custom Harmonicas
I use Reverb Nation, but I haven't spent the time to do more than post a few songs, and nothing really recent that showcases what my band is doing now. That said, it seems like a pretty good platform for some exposure. You'll get a couple contest offers every day in your email box, most of them for concerts all the way across the country, but it's free, plays pretty well with Facebook and gives you some nice data on how many plays you are getting.
we have a page there but we have used it just to show off a little- vid links and a few songs. we do post upcoming gigs there but so far i don't recall anyone coming up and saying i saw you on RV so i came out.
it's a good way to see how other locals in your genre are doing and where you stand in local rankings. there is no substitute for feet on the ground imho.
to really promote with RV they want you to hand off all your contacts like email addys etc, which i refuse to do.
i say the above with the qualification that i am not a great promoter. i like the play of the music much more than the play of "the game".
I can not recommend something more than the RN show widget. I post it everywhere... my bands website, my personal website, myspace, blogs, everywhere. I update RN and it updates every site (including Facebook).... invaluable.
