Suddenly they turned that inconveniently manageable yet once somehow functional social networking site for all musicians/venues/promoters/DJs to a horribly disasterous and downright ugly archive of ruined promo pages. The changes they made erased hours of work all those people had done to personalize their pages layouts, fonts, etc. And now you can't even freely listen to the songs: if you're not registered, it gives you only 30 sec samples after 1 song or something. Crap-tacular.

I never liked the tacky interface of MySpace. But now they have really crossed the line. Nowadays it seems more like a graveyard than a functioning social network, which I guess seems to be a natural part in the lifecycle of almost any thriving website. I'm sure it will happen to Facebook someday.

Anyway, I'm switching to SoundCloud to be my primary music page (for now). Visit me, add me, like me! Or just don't give a tweet.

Well, I do. We had our band pages there too but it sure isn't good anymore..

Better check out that SoundCloud. Btw, what are the other options nowadays? (FB obviously)

They also have an upgrade that let's you run and manage your own site without needing a background in programming.

RN also let's you embed items and there are apps to make it fully compatible with your Facebook and Twitter.

I ended up just embedding widgets from RN on my MySpace so it would still exist, but I'd never have to visit the site to update it.

I also used some widgets on my homepage so I only had to update one site to update everything.

I just checked my page out. I hadn't logged in since 2009! Wow! There is way to much B.S. on there, it takes forever to figure anything out.

I agree J-Sin,

What a pain in the @ss, I have all kinds of trouble uploading band videos, and it's such a clunky poorly designed interface. Time to get my own web page.

When I wrote a complaint to Myspace about one of the changes, they replied that I had to live with it. I have lived with it by deleting all of my profile info and not visiting Myspace since then.
Live with that...

MJ - the deletion of your account is probably the reason why myspace has become irrelevant. ;)

Joe L , You may be right. However, the unbending attitude of "take it or leave it" in the reply to my inquiry to Myspace prompted my action. Since I left it,I will say that my life has not deteriorated since my absence from said website. :)

Yeah. I have a Myspace page, but it seemed like for awhile every time I visited sites, a virus would jump onto my computer. Made me really leery. Then, I went back recently and didn't recogize my site. Believe I'll ditch it.

Just checked it out and our band space is still up and running as always. There are changes to the overall format but as far as I can see everything else is still OK.

Our site still displays, but they run ads you have to listen to. I have one or two friends who I only know how to reach on MySpace or I'd close it down though. I suppose I should be checking it more regularly and trying to find other ways to connect.

IMHO it seems obsolete with facebook and youtube links.
I hardly ever look at mine.
