Hi,
I'm a first time poster and beginner harp player. Actually I started playing about 20 years ago but stopped not long after. Last week the subject of harmonica came while talking to a guitar player I work with. That prompted me to go on the net and look up a song and WOW what a surprise to see everything I used to read now on YouTube! One week and a new special 20 later and here I am. I'm back in boys!!! I don't know if this is good or bad but I seem to be just where I left off way back when. I have a clip of me playing to some not so good (not my style...I like more bluesy) backing track I found on the net. The harp is a SP20 key of C. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MunXLh9bOiY
I have another clip but it's worse...lol. It's faster and I tend to get tongue tied (lack of riffs). I'll save that clip.

Welcome aboard! Special 20's are nice harps. They don't catch the mustache as much as, say, Lee Oskars.
If you need help finding anything, let us know. The link in my signature 'Thread Organizer' takes you to some of the better threads we've had around here, although it's by no means an exhaustive list. There is also the forum archive and the forum search down below the forum link on the left, or just ask. We are a fairly friendly bunch. :)

Baby steps. It's the journey that's important IMO. I used those jam tracks you have and played around today. I recorded a few and what I noticed on playback right away is that my timing is off (among other things in my playing...lol). Those tracks are great for reasons like this. It gives me a chance to evaluate and correct myself. I also noticed how different G and A harp is as far as getting the lower holes/notes. Also that I'm not as consistent as I would like (should be) in clarity of single notes, as well as tone. Listening to yourself recorded is great for learning and hearing/correcting mistakes. Thanks for that.

you said a mouthful Hat. hearing oneself is very important. tape does not lie! a lot of what you are hearing will improve with time and repetition. there are so many great lessons available on youtube. kudzurunner aka adam gussow (our gracious host here) among many others has a lot available. when you get down some basics like timing, chops, and continuity, it will be time to find someone to bang on a guitar and do some songs so you can find a good fit for the harp. to me the true challenge is going live and learning to get along musically with other instruments and musicians.
btw, welcome to a lively and knowledgeable forum!

Welcome Tommy. But, I'm disappointed. When I read the title of the thread I thought I was going to see someone ripping off som Bel-Biv-Devoe on harp.
That girl is poison...!
