Im planning a trip to NYC this summer for 2 weeks. ill be there in July or August. Im meeting my sister and her husband there who will be coming from Denmark, so i need to tell them when it would be best for me to go.

Does anyone know of any good blues clubs and or festivals in NYC or nearby around that time. any info would be great.

I'm on a mailing list for the Robert Ross Band. They play down there all the time. I saw them in Piermont. They had this crazy harp player playing with them that night. What was his name. Adam G somethin'! I guess he usually plays down in Mississippi.

That might be a start. You could cross reference the venues they play too. Unfortunately the band never seems to make it up the river very far so that's been the only time I've got a chance to see them. I keep reading their mailings though, hoping they might get farther north. It looks like you'll be too late for James Cotton. He's got a gig at BB King's May 6th, and a show in Hudson (pretty far from NYC up the river on the 7th) and in Connecticut and Upstate New York in mid August. I don't know much about what's going on in the City though. I get some Facebook events from people down there and I'll pass them on (if they don't magically appear here beforehand.

On July 30, JP Allen and I are doing a half-day harp clinic and performing that evening, all at a Brooklyn club called Jalopy. The event is called "HARMONICA MADNESS"

BB KIngs NYC Times Square -Sunday,July 17th 9:00 PM
Rory Block-if you can make this show,do it. She performs great Country Blues. Thats it for BB KIngs for the months of July and August as far as blues.
I will check with Mike Bram-great harp player, and also the drummer for Jason Mraz. His band Mike Bram and the Alternators usually play Lucilles Bar and Grille,a seperate club inside BB KIngs.
