a friend and I have registered as a duo to compete in a local blues competition. The winners of this competition will get to go on to Memphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge 2011.
So far, the only thing missing is original songs (it would be good to have one or two as part of the setlist).
So I'm reaching out to you guys, wondering if any of you have ever written some lyrics, ideas, complete songs. And if so, would you mind me using them. Your name would be included in the information section about the song and you would be made an honorary member of our duo (I know, what an honor, right?).
here's a little video we made. I din't even know we were filming so it's not a stellar performance from eiher of us. But with a bit of practice, we've got a shot to make it to Memphis.
Any particular topic? I've got tons of spare lyrics lying around or I could write something new. (Actually, I'm supposed to be writing something right now for Songwriters' Circle!) And are you looking for something exclusive to you, or can my band still play it? (I can work with you either way, it just limits what songs are available.)

Your band could still play it. I'd just be using it for the competition. I would say it is an original tune composed by a honorary member of our band (i.e. you).

I would encourage you to keep writing. It took me a year of writing before I liked my lyrics. Then you can write about the things you feel. And then it's all yours.
