Anybody ever tabbed out Charlie Musclewhite Sleepwalk?

I'm pretty sure it's Key of D played 3rd position on C harp.

If you've never heard it, it's pretty sweet!

Thanks,
Dan

What album is it on ?

Is that the old 50's song "Sleepwalk" ?

I have a real sweet version of that song done by Norton Buffalo from the "Joe Weed & the Vultures" album.

Just listened to it on the video... that's the song... ain't got no tabs though... I hating tabbing stuff !

Sounds like the song is in D, and he is playing a G harp in 2nd position...

This song can't be played on a C harp - it goes lower than 10-hole C can go. Can't be played on a G harp without OB's, and I don't think Charlie OB's. - I was able to play it on a A harp although it is indeed challenging and there's a part of the bridge that doesn't work. He might switch harps for the bridge. I'll ask him...

FYI - its spelled "Musselwhite"

Greg,

That's the only thing I could think of when I saw the title. I never knew he was a muscular guy.

......speaking of, where's our spell check?

.......Sleeping on the job no doubt.

Just came back from seeing Jeff Beck and Imelda May at the Fillmore. He did this - wonderfully. Greg - you've probably heard Freddy Roulette do it a more than a few times - killer (on lap steel) - like the song was written for him. This harmonica version of Charlie's doesn't do it for me - though it's an interesting execise. It's made for singing steel strings, not blown reeds. - Hey I got one too. An opinion and you know what else.

I'd love to hear Norton's take on it though - I've been know to change my mind.

Freddie Roulette does a killer version of that tune. One night, I saw him and Nick Moss do a killer version of the tune. Amazing stuff!

I just had a look on David Barret's artist listing web page and according to that, on Charlie's Rough News album he did it using a Low D in first position.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I found it on the "Rough News" CD.

Greg, Thanks for correcting me. Isn't Google Amazing! I typed in Musclewhite and it returned Musselwhite...I didn't even notice it. I must have been sleeping on the job.

Did Freddy Roulette ever live in Marin County? I used to sit in with Luther Tucker and he had an amazing lap steel player sometimes.

I always loved that tune. We used to use a snippet of the melody in one of our other songs.

Freddie lives in Berkeley and plays all around the bay area. If your lap player was a slight built black man with a pipe in his mouth - that was Freddie.

Freddie gets gets around. I've seen him all over the Bay Area playing with all sorts of people. I wouldn't be surprised if Freddie played with Luther Tucker on occasion. Depending on the time frame, you might want to ask Twist Turner or Rusty Zinn. They would likely know.

I figured I,d add my 2 cents on this by saying this is a great cd of Charlies, and if I,m not mistaken the name of the cd Rough News is in reference to the passing of William Clarke as he does dedicate the cd to William. He also plays a great version of Harlem Nocturne and also does whats considered a Brazilian ghetto music on a tune called Feel It In Your Heart, which on his following cd Continental Drifter he plays I believe 3 or more of this particular style, which has a great flavor to it.Rough News features Junior Watson on most tunes and also Kid Ramos on one or two. With that duo as G-men its definitly Got It Goin On.I think Charlies approaches and interest to so many different styles of music shows his versatility on the harmonica. You never know what he,s gonna give you next.BTW for those who didn,t know he played the harp on the old INXS tune called Suicide Blonde,I always wondered what delay set-up was used on that one.Sorry for going over the falls on this one folks,I just get on a roll sometimes.
