I am looking for suggestions for some easier blues tunes to pick up by ear? I need to start learning some tunes (I've been spending most of my time on technique lately). I've also found that my memory is starting to fail me a bit, but if I learn a tune by ear verses tab it seems to stay with me longer.

Maybe a short list of easier tunes?

Thanks,
-Ryan

easy and rainin' in my heart are both fairly simple.
i mean, my versions anyhow.

of course the hoochie coochie riff works almost everywhere.

I was thinking about "Easy" as I was posting my question! I am a little beyond "Hoochie Coochie". I'm looking to build a repertoire of easier tunes that I can pick up by ear.

I can't seem to find "Easy" on any of my Big Walter CD's (I know I have it)? What disc is it on?
Thanks!

It's on a lot of compilations like Blues Master Volume 4.

Maybe that's why I can't find it? I've been looking through my Big Walter CD's. I didn't even think to look on a comp!

Don't Start me talking? Sonny Boy WIlliamson 2
In terms of licks complexety Sonny Boy had very simple playing so you shound't have any trouble. Now, Sonnys Tone, and his wasy of hitting bends that's another whole story that would take years to master.

Also the songs in the Juhnior Wells and Buddy Guy Cd "Alone and Acoustic" are great for learning, very few licks, excelllent timing, and Wells crazyness!

listen to your favorites, pick up the riffs you like, assimulate, after you get some together it`s like a kid learning too talk.then you`ll find yourself creating harp as you go into a song...here`s a killer, bend 2draw, hold it down a few beats, then slide up to 6 blow for a few beats,on chord change to 4 chord draw in 4&5 warbeling.sounds like muddy waters band....have fun. also, songs like roll & tumble and most howlin wolf are modal no chord changes, you can`t miss with that...

Don't forget you can steal a lot of horn and sax lines. They are often in Bb.

After easy look for big walters "ITS NOT EASY " for extra places to take the tune. Another great one is carie and lurrie bells "blues with a feelin use the slow downer , slow it down to get the licks then play it at 125% its great
