I just saw Jim Liban do this effect during one of his shows. Not even a week ago.
He was taking a solo and busted that sh*t out. Jim's style was actually during funk tune. I can't remember what he was saying thru the harp but it was killer....! While He was playing this technique I turned my head at the crowd to see who was into it (cuz I definitely was).
I locked eyes with Reverend Raven, an accomplished performer in his own right, and he mouthed to me "That is cool"
So I think you are on to something here

That's actually what I listened to when I first learned to bend. It's a great tone exercise, even if you don't go on to working up a talking bit.

Ive got that first track on a sonny Terry instructional C.D. that comes with a book by Ben Hewlett, its just a bonus track after all the other tracks but its amazing all the same.

It sounds cool for the first 15 seconds and then rapidly becomes irritating. I didn't last for either of the two videos.

I did this thing that I have named Donald Ducking on the harp. I don't think I have heard anyone else doing some of the sounds the way they came together. I played all the instruments at once and then overdubbed the harp. Walter
