Dear forum,
I'm looking for exercises to enhance my vibrato. I'm aware of the different techniques (jaw vibrato, throat vibrato, diaphragm vibrato) and I can deploy them to a certain extent, but I'm specifically looking for good exercises to improve.
At this point, my vibrato sounds rather weak and I'm not fully in control.
I would be very grateful for any input.
Very best wishes,
Yann

Sorry I didn’t see this until now. I hope your vibrato has improved. Honestly, I don’t do much exercising except playing through my harp but here are some suggestions as I think about it. First of all, no matter the type of vibrato it uses the diaphragm . So starting there, with teeth close together and lips puckered breathe in then out forming a word such as “who” getting the word in for gentle long breaths the out. Then try it with a harp in your mouth (the resistance of the harp improves your capacity). Increase the cadence until you get multiple “who”s on each in breath and out breath.. Moving on to the throat vibrato,, do the same excercise use the sound “Ka” (I find it easier on the in breath). So you’re still using your diaphragm but your throat now activates a different staccato to it. As for the jaw vibrato I don’t really use it so I can’t help you there. Have fun Bob L
