Obviously the best way to practise is to actually play the harp, but there's times when that's not possible and I still want to do something related to playing harp. So sometimes I practise without the harp. The things I do are practise articulations (all the da, ta, ka etc. sounds) in a particular rhythm, practise breathing patterns and try to memorise the notes in a riff or song.

It probably looks quite strange to anyone watching but I find it useful.

Does anyone else do this? Does it help your playing?

As was mentioned in another thread , you can whistle songs as if playing the harp and get great practice with breathing , bending , etc. . It helps me .
