Harmonicas Direct had Donald Black Highlander Tremolos on special offer so I snapped one up immediately as I've always been a fan of Celtic music. The tuning on the Highlander tuned side (it's one of those 'flip over' trems) is essentially flattened 7ths. I love it!
I'm now going to try retuning a regular diatonic to the same tuning (hole 3 and 7 draw down a half step)
Anyone else tried that?

The tuning on that, like the rest of Hohner`s tremelo harps, are tuned to 7 Limit Just Intonation, which they stopped using on their diatonics in 1985. The only stock harps outside of tremelo harps made by Hohner are the Hering 1923 Vintage Harp and the JI tuned version of the Suzuki Fabulous ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte.

Well...
I didn't ask about intonation, I was discussing the tuning, but thanks for the info.
Anyway...I retuned an old harp I had lying around and it's awesome. I see from a bit of research that this tuning is also called minor 7th tuning and having played around a little it's really good for funky tunes too because unlike the tremolo, on the diatonic I can bend notes and it has a mix of major and minor chords.
I've tried a lot of other tunings, but this is the first one that I've really liked.
