Wow! How awesome is this guy? Love this type of stuff. Needs some harp in it though.....

60's blues / soul in the twenty tens. Cool.

The production on this is amazing - it actually sounds like it was recorded 50 years ago and that is definitely a good thing (having heard how sterile, digital overproduction destroyed Cee Lo Green's album - IMHO)

Hey Mr V,

I think that's one of the big attractions. It's obviously been recorded using valve technology to get that 'old' sound. As harp players, I think we're more attuned to this style of production. I sent this over to the guy who runs the sound in my band. We're a 70's funk disco soul outfit, but we're running through top end transistor equipment, so our singer is almost fighting against her own amplified sound for tone.

There's a pretty cheap valve vocal preamp on the market by Art. I'm really keen to try it for harp, but I'd also love to find out if it can achieve the vocal sound on this track.
