Well, it looks like my life might be making a turn towards moving to D.C.. I'm not really excited about it as I love my life in Indianapolis. I am trying to take solace in imagining greater blues possibilities if there are any. Any good news for me on this front?

KINGO -

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the blues scene in the DC area pales in comparison to anything going on in the Midwest... I say this after having spent 5 years in Kansas City and 2 years in Chicago (in addition to touring in the Midwest last summer)...

You will find some excellent players in the DC/NOVA area however the club scene has pretty much dried up... I lived and played in DC back in 2001 (SCOJO lived there as well - many cases of mistaken identity!) - times were tough then but have gotten worse.. IF you want to go to blues jams you are in luck! There seems to be an over abundance of jams in the DC area... My drummer and guitar player are both tops on their instruments, live in the DC area and travel to play with me because of the scene - last week they traveled 2.5 hours to Charlottesvile, tonight 4 hours to Roanoke VA and each weak they trek almost two hourts for a weekly gig in Richmond.. If you are able to travel, gigs do exist in BMO, MD, Philly and parts of Virginia...

After saying all that, welcome to the East COast... If you make it down to Richmond, VA then we could meet and talk shop!

take care...

I can't vouch for the blues scene in DC, but I did see "Big Boy Little", a great harp player from DC, at the IBC last year. I e-mailed with him a couple of times and he seems like a pretty good guy. He has been playing Blues in DC for a long time. You might drop him a note asking for some info. Here's his web site:

I think he runs a blues jam at the "Zoo Bar" on Thursdays.

Thanks guys. I'll let you know if this move happens. I'm kind of hoping things still work out here, but the chances look good for the move.
