Walter Today I got round finally to listening to your stuff [not all of it obviously]. I think it's great.
one question, how much do you record and throw away because it is no good, or is everything you play that cool?

lumpy: thanks for listening to my music! I think it would take a month of 24/7 to get through the 2,700+ songs and the videos on youtube :-) I throw away probably less than 5% of my songs. The ones I don't save are usually at the begining of the sessions. They seem to be like a warm up to get things loose. The songs just keep coming and since I started messing with the amplified harp sound again a couple weeks ago, they are coming out almost too fast. I created a new kind of mic holder tonight that fits on the rack and will test it tomorrow. I end up posting about 10% of what I record a day. Waiting for them to load on soundclick gets old if I post too many. Thanks for your inquiry and if you have any other questions let me know. Walter, I've listened to every thing you've put up since you posted San Francisco Fog awhile back and checked out a couple hundred others. It boggles my mind that you can do all these things at once and do them so well. I have a list of about 30 songs I intend to purchase when I get back to work(had a little heart attack setback) I play harp along with your songs a lot. I was wondering if you've ever played at county fairs. It seems like a venue where Spontobeat would be admired and appreciated.

Lnbrjak: Wow, I am touched. You have listened to more songs than me! Playing all those instruments and making up the words and music as I go along seems pretty simple to me. I often wonder why more people don't do it. The best part of it all is am no longer dependent on other musicians to make music. The drive to get to this point has made it easy I think. Like most people I like to moan about things I am not happy with but when it comes to making music I need to play and the 1 man band is the perfect set up. I haven't played a county fair. I have mentioned here that I am no longer interested in booking gigs/promoting myself. I am now spending that energy in search of someone who will do this stuff. Because I am not actively hustling gigs, my calendar is a blank. The part of it all that really helps me to have faith everything is going in the right direction is the first professional musician I met was wilbert harrison. He picked me up in his caddy as I walked down the street blowing my harp. He was one of the kings of the 1 man band setup and that was what he was doing when I met him. I have done it on and off since but 90% of my time playing music in clubs was with a real bassist and drummer backing me. My first musical life lesson was the 1 man band and here I am probably going to end my career doing it. It really hits me deep that he and I connected. Like destiney is a real thing! I would like to send you a cd for free if you like. I don't understand paypal very well anyway:) Walter ---------- walter tore's spontobeat - a real one man band and over 1 million spontaneously created songs and growing. Walter, I'm not surprised that I've listened to more of your songs than you have. You're too busy cranking out new ones!! I've only met one other person who made up songs like you do. I was jamming along with him for an hour or so and didn't know until we took a break that he was making it up. I am pretty limited with what I can play on harp but this guy seemed to draw the best out of me with his acoustic guitar and vocals. He seemed to have a sense of what I could and couldn't do and even switched from leading to following me at times when I screwed up and managed to smooth out and even hide my mistakes. Perhaps all musicians do this sort of thing, but I think some of you have a gift. I Have had a couple verses or maybe a melody come to me out of nowhere but I'll have to work on the song for days or even months to recieve the rest. Appreciate the offer of a cd. That would be great. Is that something you can send as a sound file or do you need a mailing address to send an actual cd. I am so 20th century when it comes to this stuff.(19th century is probably closer to the truth!)

Lmbrjak: Send me your email address and I will send you some mp3s. Do you have a limit on how many you can recieve at a time? I have some of my recent ones stored on one of those memory sticks. I transfer them from my recording computer to post to the net. My recording computer never goes online. I filled the stick up a bit back so I am not sure how many I have on it but know they are from the past week or two. I just sing songs like one breathes air. It is naturally and unthoughtfully simple. Walter ---------- walter tore's spontobeat - a real one man band and over 1 million spontaneously created songs and growing.
