hello all, I've been watching Adam Gussow's videos on youtube for a long time and about the best thing I can play is Ave Maria or (parts of) digging my potato from cowboy bebop. Anyway, I heard this song the other day and I really like the harmonica and it sounds simple enough but I just cant seem to play it, I may be using the wrong harmonica (I have a C and a D) but I really can't play by ear anyway :P.
anyway, here is the song, - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05rR7nozsYg - the harmonica is at the very beginning and I dont think it changes through out the whole song, so if someone could please tell me the tabs and/or what key it's in i'd be very appreciative!
Yep Eb works ok except for the whole step draw bend on 3. Doesn't sound like that note is being bent on the vid. Alternate tuning? Grey Owl YouTube Grey Owl Abstract Photos
On second listen/play along I think it works better in second on a B-flat but you need a 6 overblow.
4 6+ 6+ 6ob 6 6+ 6 6+ 5 6+
I think they are using some sort of accordian on the recording.

If you want to play along with the vid you will need a harp in Eb!. Of course you can play your C or D or any other key if you play it without the backing.
Here is a tab I've quickly worked out:-
I have tabbed a one note melody. You will hear he grabs another note alongside the melody to give a chord feel and you can work that out once you've got the melody down.
You've probably heard this before but over reliance on tabs will mean you will instinctively look for tabs to play stuff rather than depend on your ear.
To train your ear, try to copy a very simple but new melody on say your C harp (when you know the tune is being played on a C harp) Listen to the notes carefully and try to reproduce them on your harp.
Learn small sections of the tune at a time, frequently stopping and replaying the section until you get it, then move on to the next section.
It can be painstaking work but it WILL be worth it.
Just transposed the tune in Nero so I can play along with my only minor key harp (Lee Oskar Gm)and it works really well all the way through without bends OB's, as follows: +3+4+4+5+4+4-4-3-2+4 (first part only tabbed).
I had to lower the tune by down 5 semitones to match my Gm harp so would that make it a Cm harp to play along with the vid?
