Does any one know about thw astatic W 80 mic, it has a crystal element in it. and looks just like the JT 30. I was looking for an empty mic shell for a new project and found this one online. it works and the price was ok. but I've never heard of the W 80 was it a military mic.? it looks to be at least a 1945/46 year. how would I tell what year the element is. any thoughts or comemnts would be great.

I think that's the JT30's predecessor.

W80 was the military designation, brown shell (usually).

Model A was more the predecessor of both that and the JT30/JT40.

I wouldn't care what year the element was, just what it sounded like.
