Holy crap I just got an Audix i5 and it rules. I did a lot of research for a snare drum mic (other than a SM57) and this is the mic that got the best reviews.
So the first thing I did when I got home was try it with my harp. Wow! It sounded freaking awesome! I compared it to my SM57, SM58, and Audix Fireball back to back. It was louder and cleaner. It had less feeback with more volume through the PA and my Valve Jr.
It is shorter and lighter than an SM57. It is slightly fatter too, which I like because my hand gets tired.
Does anyone else use one? It is supposed to be the SM57 competition. Screw the snare drum, I think I may start using this mic for harp!

Yes. I have an i5. I like it because it is so versatile. I can mic my cab with it. I can use for a straight vocal mic. And EQ'd properly, it makes a decent harp mic.
Price is right, too.

@earlounge could you describe or record clean sound of i5 by PA? I try to find the best dynamic mic for harmonica (diat & chrom). My Shure sm58 is too trebly and sometimes it tends to feedback. I'd like try Electro Voice N/D 967 - great power, bottom end and feedback rejection.
I need clean and warm harmonica sound. Maybe someone has good ideas?

Bart,
An old EV RE 15 has a nice thick smooth clean tone for harp through a PA and it's not at all "bright." This mic looks like an RE 10 but sounds smoother, darker, warmer and fuller.

@Bart, I will try to do some test recordings sometime this week. It seems like it is brighter than my SM58. I'll keep you updated.
