My intention is to produce some Youtube videos whilst on the go traveling to sometimes remote and difficult to access places. Over the past couple of years I have played the harp in some truly amazing places eg caves, old munitions bunkers, gorges, disused railway tunnels, old deserted prisons etc. Most, but not all had outstanding acoustics. But sadly I didn’t ever record the events as space and weight prevented more than the basics be carried.
I now have a Sony Bloggie and a H2Zoom recorder which are ideal sizes and will work to some extent to give me what I want to achieve. But sometimes they & I need a little help. I would like a mic + effects and an amp to deliver a full, but not loud sound close to the camera. But the combo would need to be tiny & lightweight ie everything would need to fit into a daypack along with other necessities like food, water and a jacket.
Having a tiny ipod docking station and tiny digital radio that deliver amazing quality of sound it strikes me that for an instrument like the harmonica there should be similar sized quality gear that can easily perform the work I require? I know mass markets deliver these benefits so perhaps what I seek for harmonica is just not available? Ideally I need a lapel type wireless mic to a receiver amp that also has inbuilt effects. Expense is also an issue.
My research leads me to small wireless mic setups that are mostly for voice/ conference use. Anyone have any experience to share on what may be suitable? Don’t suggest Honeytone amps as I have already ruled them out as being too big.
