Hey all,
I ended up with some custom marine bands, and love them, but sometimes I need to get a good seal on a cupped mic, and those side holes do not make it easy. I have heard about people taping them up, but the side of me that likes pretty harps does not like the idea of tape on my nicely worked over harmonicas. Any elegant, easy, temporary solutions floating around out there other than just putting tape on them?
Thanks,
Walter

Black electricians tape on the inside, looks totally stock!

Blue tack - really easy to fill every gap around the badly made cover plates and really easy to remove, if you want to revert to type!

thanks guys, since a couple of them are joe's, he is the man for that.. but the bluetack is a good idea on some of my less nice harps with poorer fitted cover plates.

This is what i use to do. I use white 3M Micropore tape, which I cut out to fit the short ends inside the covers. I then varnish it with two coats of clear butyrate dope shrinking. The "Dope" shrink the Micropore tape and makes the surface "flat". It looks as made of glass. It leaves a very nice result "dignified" a custom harmonica, i think. At least it could be worth trying it out and see if you like it.
