it`s great that in this internet world we can have this much information on blues harp and any other idiom. just about everything we discuss is looking at it from the european aspect of music.but i`m sure the dudes who developed the art form did it from the african folk music
a singing language that was passed on with out book knowledge.i talked with james cotton back in 1970`s
and this is what he talked about.i think if you want to get deep into blues harp ,learning the singing language
gets you closer to the original way .to much book can get in the way,but both ways makes it the best time to learn blues harp...

Look up some information on the Sheng. This could be the first "harmonica". It is probably the first free reed instrument. Some have been found dating back over 2000 years.
